Jordan Launches Space Week 2026 with "Night of Saturn" on October 4th

Jordan will launch "Space Week 2026" from October 4th to 10th, as part of the celebration of the Global Space Week, under the theme "Rocket Revolution", with a program that combines astronomical observation, training, education, research, and student creativity.

The president of the Space Week Committee at the Jordanian Astronomical Society, Afnan Abu Qalisha, said that the week's events will start on October 4th with the "Night of Saturn" event, coinciding with Saturn's arrival at opposition, making it an appropriate time for telescope observation. The events will include a training program for physics and earth science teachers in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development.

She added that the program includes a student competition extending from Space Week to the beginning of April next year, which includes two tracks: the first for preparing scientific research and projects on space exploration, and the second for designing and launching rockets and filming experiments in short educational clips. The events will conclude with the announcement of the projects and the honoring of the top three winners.

The program aims to spread astronomical and space culture, enhance scientific and critical thinking among students, qualify teachers, expand the participation of Jordanian schools and institutions in the Global Space Week events, and connect students with the rapid development in space science and technology.
