Observation of Venus occultation behind the Moon in Jordan's skies

The Jordanian Astronomical Society observed the phenomenon of Venus occultation behind the Moon from the Al-Alouk Mountains area on Monday, successfully capturing and documenting the stages of the astronomical event.

The President of the Jordanian Astronomical Society, Dr. Ammar Al-Sakji, stated that the practical observation results showed high compatibility with the theoretical calculations previously prepared by the society, noting that Venus's entry behind the Moon began around 12:47 PM, and its disappearance was complete at approximately 12:49 PM, while its reappearance began around 2:13 PM, and its exit was complete at 2:15 PM Jordan time.

Al-Sakji explained that the total occultation duration reached about one hour and 24 minutes, and the faces of both the Moon and Venus appeared in a crescent phase during this phenomenon, pointing out that precise observation of such phenomena contributes to comparing theoretical astronomical calculations with field observations.

He indicated that the next visible occultation of Venus behind the Moon from Jordan will occur on 10

January 2032, as the event will take place during the day and will be visible from the Kingdom within a geographical scope that includes parts of Asia, Africa, and Europe.
