Israeli media: Security coordination between Israel and the Pentagon at its highest levels

The Israeli website "Walla" reported, citing officials, that security coordination between Israel and the US Department of Defense (the Pentagon) has reached its highest levels recently, noting that Israel would receive prior warning if Washington decided to launch an attack on Iran.

The website added that the Israeli military establishment is in a state of maximum alert in anticipation of any developments related to Iran.

These developments come amid growing indications of a possible resumption of military operations against Iran, after US President Donald Trump hinted on Sunday at the possibility of delivering a "crushing blow" to Tehran, despite indicating his desire to give diplomacy a chance to end the war.

Trump said during a campaign rally in Iowa, on the eve of the US midterm elections, that the United States might at some point be forced to strike Iran again, adding that he wants to avoid further casualties if possible.

Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed by phone on Saturday the developments in negotiations with Iran and the possibility of escalating military operations against it, according to the US website "Axios," which cited American and Israeli officials saying Netanyahu urged Trump to launch strikes against Iran immediately after the midterm elections, while the US president expressed a desire to give negotiations another chance.

An Israeli official described the call as "difficult," while an American official described it as "direct."

On Saturday, Trump said negotiations with Iran to end the war are "going well," but he considered Tehran "not fully trustworthy."

This came after Iran's Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Mohsen Rezaei, revealed he had received a message from US Vice President JD Vance in an effort to revive stalled negotiations, while a Qatari delegation headed to Tehran on Friday to hold talks with Iranian officials.

Iran warned on Sunday that any new war with the United States could last longer than the previous war, with Iranian military spokesman Mohammad Agha Miri Nia stating that Washington would not be able to determine the end date or conditions of any future confrontation, according to Iranian state television.

These moves come ahead of the US midterm elections scheduled for Tuesday, amid domestic pressure on the Trump administration over the war, rising fuel prices, and the cost of living.
