The newspaper quoted Ben-Gvir as saying that prisoners at "Eshel" prison had collected food supplies over several days to bake the cake, hoping to celebrate his non-election in the upcoming vote.
He added that the prison administration discovered the cake and took disciplinary measures against the prisoners, which included transferring them to solitary confinement.
The incident comes two days before the Israeli elections scheduled for Tuesday to elect members of the Knesset, in preparation for forming a new government.
According to the newspaper, the prisoners hope that the election results will lead to Ben-Gvir's exit from the next government, following years of strict measures he imposed on the detention conditions of Palestinians.
However, the end of his term is not guaranteed, as his remaining in office depends on the election results, the alliances that will be formed afterward, and the possibility of his "Otzma Yehudit" party joining the next ruling coalition.
Ben-Gvir has held the Ministry of National Security, which oversees the Israeli Prison Service, since late 2022, with a temporary break from the position in early 2025.
During his tenure, he led measures to tighten the detention conditions of Palestinian prisoners, including reducing food rations and privileges inside prisons, amid widespread Palestinian and human rights criticism.
Palestinian human rights organizations accuse Israeli authorities of committing systematic violations against prisoners, including torture, starvation, solitary confinement, and denial of medical care.
