(Ibn Sukayna), a new release by writer Ramadan Al-Rawashdeh

The short story collection "(Ibn Sukayna)" by Jordanian political writer and novelist Ramadan Al-Rawashdeh was published today by the Arab Institute for Research and Publishing in Beirut. The collection includes 16 stories that address realistic political and social conditions in an elevated literary language.

Literary critic Dr. Anas Al-Zyoud, who reviewed the short story collection, states that Al-Rawashdeh has presented a distinguished literary work that stirs admiration in the recipient's soul upon reading it, because they find in it much of the reality of the life they live, not to mention the symbolism that stimulates thought and interpretation within them and illuminates the mind, transforming them from a passive receiver into an active receiver who rejects the deteriorating reality, and by simply rejecting it, contributes to changing and correcting it.

Al-Rawashdeh has six novels: "Al-Hamrawi", "Shepherds' Song", "The River Will Not Separate Me From You", "Southerner", "Al-Mahatwan", and "Village Tales". He previously published two short story collections: "An Intifada and Other Stories" and "That Night".

Al-Rawashdeh won the Naguib Mahfouz Medal for Literature in Egypt in 1994 for his novel "Al-Hamrawi", and his novel "Al-Mahatwan" reached the longlist of the Katara Prize for Arabic Novel in Qatar in 2023.

The novels "Al-Mahatwan" and "The River Will Not Separate Me From You" were adapted into theatrical works, and his novel "Village Tales" was adapted into a television series produced by Jordan Television.

A book titled (Artistic Structure in Ramadan Al-Rawashdeh's Novels) by writer Areej Amjad Al-Tawalbeh was published by the Arab Institute for Research and Publishing in Beirut in 2024. It is a Master's thesis for which Al-Tawalbeh was awarded a Master's degree in Arts from Yarmouk University.
