Guterres Expresses Concern Over Sharp Escalation in Yemen

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed concern on Monday over the "sharp escalation" in Yemen between government forces and the Houthis.

UN Secretary-General's spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said the Secretary-General is deeply concerned over the sharp escalation in fighting, which has intensified markedly in recent days, affirming that he condemns the Houthi attacks across the border against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The President of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, announced on Monday the launch of the "Dawn of Yemen" operation to restore state institutions and liberate the capital Sanaa, and to end the coup of the Houthi militia.

Al-Alimi said on his X account that the will of the Yemeni people and the valor of the armed forces in all their formations, with the support of brothers and friends, will push Yemen towards a new dawn of freedom, peace, and stability.
