The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip said on Friday that 466 people have died due to malnutrition and starvation since 2024, including 157 children and 189 elderly people, warning of the continued catastrophic levels of malnutrition in the Strip.
The Ministry added, in a press statement on the occasion of World Food Day, that 158,001 cases of acute malnutrition were recorded among children under five from 2024 until August 2026, including 28,716 severe, life-threatening cases.
The Ministry expected that more than 1.4 million people, equivalent to 67% of the Strip's population, would face food crisis levels or worse by the end of 2026, in light of the ongoing repercussions of the war, noting the official declaration of famine in the Gaza Governorate in August 2025.
