Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi confirmed that any proposal to resolve the Palestinian issue at the expense of Jordan is rejected and not feasible, and that the Kingdom will confront it with all its capabilities.
During a press conference following the ministerial meeting of the International Coalition to Implement the Two-State Solution, held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, he pointed out that there have been absurd statements made by Israeli officials in recent days about the possibility of resolving the Palestinian issue at the expense of Jordan, adding that these statements confirm the continuation of the war approach by the Israeli government, while warning of the repercussions of settlement expansion on the chances of achieving a two-state solution.
He explained that settlement in the West Bank is witnessing unprecedented expansion, pointing out that Israeli plans aim to undermine the possibility of establishing a viable Palestinian state.
Safadi warned against the establishment of the "E1" settlement project, pointing out that the establishment of the settlement would separate northern West Bank from southern West Bank, increasing the difficulty of achieving the geographical connectivity necessary for a two-state solution, and also warned of escalating settler violence, land confiscation, and house demolitions, which led to the displacement of more than 1,400 Palestinians from their homes in the West Bank.
He called on the international community to take effective steps to preserve the option of establishing a two-state solution, warning that the absence of international action could lead to the exacerbation and continuation of the conflict.
Safadi warned against attacks on Islamic and Christian holy sites, pointing out that this would lead to the ignition of a religious war that Israel could start but no one would be able to end.
