Discussion on Enhancing Coordination and Facilitating Passenger Movement Across Jaber Border Between Jordan and Syria

A joint task force from the Land Transport Regulatory Authority and relevant authorities at the Jaber Border Center discussed ways to enhance coordination between official bodies and representatives of the transport and tourism sectors, contributing to the facilitation of passenger movement, improving the efficiency of crossing procedures, and enhancing the level of services provided to passengers in both directions. This was during a field meeting dedicated to discussing the procedures for crossing passenger buses and cars, and the operational and procedural challenges associated with transport movement between Jordan and Syria.

Following the meeting, the task force continued its field tour inside Syrian territories to inspect bus and car parking sites and follow up on the procedures followed on the Syrian side, with the aim of forming a comprehensive picture of the passenger journey and identifying opportunities to improve traffic flow and reduce waiting times.

The task force will prepare a comprehensive report on the results of the visit, including field observations, existing challenges, recommendations, and proposed procedures, in preparation for discussing them with concerned authorities and working on developing the passenger transport system across borders.

The task force included the Director of Provincial Affairs at the Authority, Rola Al-Amri, the Director of Passenger Affairs, Motaz Al-Rousan, the Head of the Passenger Supervision Section, Suhaib Al-Shouha, the Director of Residence and Borders at the Jaber Border Center, the Director of Jaber Customs, representatives of security agencies, the Director of Supervision at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the President of the Tourism and Travel Agents Syndicate, and a delegate from the Tourism Transport Association.
