The Director of Education for the Northern Jordan Valley District, Dr. Basma Freihat, inaugurated today, Sunday, the "My Workshop: A World of Imagination" initiative at Al-Manshiya Secondary School for Girls. This initiative comes as part of the practical activities for the Early Childhood specialization in the Vocational and Technical Education (BTEC) track, recently introduced at the school, in the presence of the Head of the Vocational Education Department, Engineer Ammar Amayreh, Educational Development Consultant Dr. Nidal Al-Samki, Vocational Education Department member Mr. Muath Al-Bashtawi, School Principal Ms. Valentina Bani Melhem, Assistant Quality Officer Khaldiya Mahafzah, and with the participation of teachers, students, and kindergarten children.
The launch of the initiative came within the framework of strengthening the practical aspect of the Early Childhood specialization, and providing the opportunity for tenth-grade students to apply the knowledge and skills they acquire within the (BTEC) program by designing and implementing educational and interactive activities targeting kindergarten children, which contributes to developing their mental, linguistic, social, and motor abilities in a manner consistent with their developmental characteristics and educational needs.
During the opening of the initiative, Freihat emphasized that introducing the Early Childhood specialization within the Vocational and Technical Education (BTEC) track represents an important step toward diversifying educational paths and providing vocational and applied learning opportunities that keep pace with the needs of the labor market, noting that this specialization combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience, and qualifies students to acquire professional competencies related to childcare, education, and skill development in their early childhood years.
She explained that the "My Workshop: A World of Imagination" initiative embodies the philosophy of vocational and technical education based on learning by doing, and transforming knowledge into applicable skills, stressing that the true value of such initiatives lies in enabling students to employ what they learn inside the classroom in real-life educational situations, which boosts their self-confidence and develops their planning, organizational, communication, teamwork, and responsibility skills.
Freihat viewed the educational corners prepared by the Early Childhood specialization students, which included art, drama, cognitive, and library corners, and the purposeful educational activities they contained based on learning through play, discovery, and interaction, reflecting the students' ability to design safe and stimulating educational environments that take into account individual differences between children and support their comprehensive growth.
Freihat pointed out the importance of providing supportive training and practical environments for Early Childhood specialization students and strengthening the partnership between the school and kindergartens, which allows for real opportunities to acquire professional experience and contributes to achieving the learning outcomes targeted within the (BTEC) program, stressing the necessity of sustaining the initiative, documenting its impact, and utilizing its results in developing educational and training practices.
At the conclusion of the visit, Freihat expressed her appreciation to the school principal, Valentina Bani Melhem, the assistant quality officer, Khaldiya Mahafzah, the two teachers supervising the implementation of the initiative, Walaa Al-Shara' and Hidayah Al-Momani, and the administrative and teaching staff and the Early Childhood specialization students, valuing their efforts in implementing this qualitative initiative, which reflects the importance of introducing vocational and technical specializations in schools and their role in preparing students who possess the knowledge, skill, and professional competencies necessary for the future.
She affirmed the Education Directorate's continued support for applied initiatives related to (BTEC) specializations, contributing to improving the quality of vocational and technical education outcomes, promoting a culture of creativity and innovation, and consolidating the concept of productive learning that links education to life and work.
