"Binance" platform resumes withdrawals after recovering the majority of stolen funds

"Binance", the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, announced that it has resumed withdrawals in phases, following the recovery of 95% of the $6.3 billion in digital currencies stolen from its platform in the largest digital theft ever, which the FBI has linked to North Korea.

"Binance" stated that the first phase will begin on Sunday between 06:00 and 09:00 GMT, and will include currencies such as "Bitcoin", "Ethereum", "BNB", "Solana", "XRP", "Dogecoin", and others.

The FBI reported on Saturday that the "TraderTraitor" group—a state-backed unit in North Korea—is responsible for this attack.

For its part, Pyongyang has for years denied using state-affiliated cyber units for espionage, financial theft, or revenue generation. Neither North Korea's mission in Geneva nor its embassy in China responded to requests for comment.

The FBI stated in a press release that law enforcement agencies have observed members of this group converting stolen assets into the "Ethereum" cryptocurrency, adding that it expects "further money laundering" of these assets using related techniques.
