Amman - Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, President of the Royal Scientific Society, the Information and Communications Technology Association 'intaj' will hold the 'Artificial Intelligence: From Adoption to Impact' forum tomorrow, Sunday, in the capital, Amman, with the participation of government officials, business leaders, investors, experts, and representatives from the technology sector and academic institutions.
The forum includes a special session featuring HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan titled "Technology, Talent, and National Ambition: Building Jordan's Generation in Artificial Intelligence." The session will address the importance of artificial intelligence in shaping the economic and technological future, and the role of innovation, scientific research, and human capacity development in enhancing Jordan's ability to keep pace with global digital transformations and benefit from the opportunities provided by these technologies across various sectors.
The forum is organized by the Women in Technology Empowerment Unit (SHETECHS), with support from the Innovative Private Sector Development (IPSD II) project, implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply. It is platinum-sponsored by the Jordan Payments and Clearing Company (JoPACC) and Orange Jordan, gold-sponsored by Green Circle, and silver-sponsored by Damamax and Eskadenia Software.
SHETECHS is one of the initiatives of the 'intaj' association aimed at enhancing women's participation in the ICT sector and empowering them economically and professionally by developing digital skills, supporting entrepreneurship and innovation, and building partnerships that provide women with broader opportunities for work and professional development in the technology sector.
Organizing the forum through SHETECHS reflects the importance of strengthening women's presence in the fields of artificial intelligence and advanced technologies, and enabling them to participate in developing digital solutions and leading innovation, thereby contributing to building a more inclusive and sustainable digital economy.
The forum aims to discuss ways to transition from adopting artificial intelligence technologies to employing them in a practical manner that achieves measurable economic and operational results, and to enhance the ability of Jordanian institutions and companies to utilize them to increase productivity, improve efficiency, develop services, and boost competitiveness.
The forum will discuss a number of key themes, most notably digital sovereignty and data management, the future of skills and the labor market, and inclusive digital growth, in addition to the feasibility of investing in artificial intelligence and measuring its economic and operational returns, as well as reviewing practical applications that have transformed institutional performance and business models.
It also highlights the importance of building an integrated national ecosystem for artificial intelligence, enhancing women's participation in the digital economy, and developing an environment for innovation and entrepreneurship, enabling Jordanian companies to expand their businesses and reach new markets.
The CEO of the 'intaj' association, Eng. Nidal Bitar, said that organizing the forum comes within the association's efforts to enhance the readiness of the Jordanian economy to keep pace with global technological transformations and to transform artificial intelligence from technical tools into an actual engine for economic growth, innovation, and business development.
He added that the next phase requires shifting from a focus on adopting artificial intelligence technologies to measuring their actual impact on institutional performance, through applications that contribute to reducing operational costs, improving service quality, increasing productivity, and developing technological products and solutions capable of competing in local, regional, and global markets.
Al-Bitar emphasized that Jordan possesses a base of human talent and technology companies qualified to develop advanced artificial intelligence solutions, pointing to the importance of investing in digital skills and strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors and universities, which contributes to turning these capabilities into investment opportunities and quality jobs that support the goals of the Economic Modernization Vision.
He explained that the forum constitutes a platform that brings together decision-makers, experts, investors, and corporate leaders to exchange practical experiences, discuss challenges associated with adopting artificial intelligence, and explore mechanisms to accelerate its use in various economic sectors, with a focus on enabling small and medium-sized enterprises to benefit from these technologies.
Al-Bitar pointed to the importance of the role played by SHETECHS in empowering women and enhancing their participation in the digital economy, confirming that investing in female talent and developing their skills in the fields of artificial intelligence represents a priority for fostering innovation and expanding the base of beneficiaries of technological growth.
For her part, the Head of the Women in Technology Empowerment Unit (SHETECHS) at the 'intaj' association, Zein Asfour, said that organizing the forum reflects the unit's focus on highlighting the economic role of female leaders and those with advanced expertise in the technology sector, and enhancing their contribution to formulating business strategies and making decisions related to investment in artificial intelligence.
Asfour emphasized that SHETECHS is driven by the importance of employing accumulated female expertise in business development and leading technological transformations within institutions, noting that the diversity of experiences and perspectives in decision-making positions represents an important factor in improving institutional performance, developing innovative solutions, and turning technological investments into tangible economic results.
