Amman Municipality: Determining "Valet" Prices is Not Within Our Jurisdiction

The Executive Director of the Regions and City Services at the Greater Amman Municipality, Ghazi Al-Hadid, said that determining the prices of the "valet" parking service for licensed companies that meet the conditions and standards is not within the jurisdiction of the Municipality.

Al-Hadid explained on Wednesday that the Municipality does not interfere with the price set by the company after obtaining the license, while its powers are concentrated on regulating the service, licensing it, and verifying the compliance of its providers with the applicable requirements and instructions.

This comes at a time when the Amman Municipality is intensifying its campaigns against the practices of reserving public parking spaces in a manner that violates the regulations, as it has seized more than 40 sites for this purpose, while the number of people referred to the administrative judge has exceeded 15 people.

Al-Hadid pointed out that the campaign against unlicensed "valet" services continues throughout the year, with intensified monitoring in response to numerous complaints related to the illegal reservation of public parking spaces.

He pointed out that the latest system for licensing "valet" parking was issued in May 2026, and it regulates the conditions and procedures for practicing the activity, while a committee that includes the Amman Municipality, the Public Security Directorate, and the Ministry of Interior handles the licensing procedures, in the presence of the Traffic Department and the Civil Defense.

The system requires the company to obtain a commercial register, in addition to meeting the requirements related to the company and its employees, including the absence of restrictions on the employees.

The Municipality has made it possible to issue "valet" permits electronically through its website, and linked the service to the Ministry of Interior and the Public Security Directorate, in a step aimed at regulating the sector and reducing chaos and illegal practices.

The permit requirements include a professional license for the "valet" company, a professional license for the beneficiary establishment of the service, and a professional license for the parking site, whether it is a yard or additional parking spaces.

A certified guarantee contract with a notary public or a lease contract between the service provider and the parking site owner must also be submitted, along with a copy of the contract concluded with the beneficiary establishment, specifying the duration of the contract, the number of parking spaces required, and the rights and obligations of both parties.

In the event that the establishment's construction parking is used to provide the "valet" service, the Municipality requires that the parking spaces designated for the activity be complete, undamaged, and not paid for.

The service provider is prohibited from using sidewalks or reserving them with obstacles, while the Municipality calls on citizens to verify the license of the service before using it, ensuring that the license is visible to confirm the legality of the activity.

In the event of detecting a violation, a complaint can be submitted through the electronic services of the Amman Municipality or the unified contact and emergency numbers, while the Municipality's staff work on the field around the clock to monitor violations and respond to reports.
