((Amman Arab University)) launches a project to enhance inclusive education

Amman Arab University has launched the (INCLUDE-ASD) project, which it coordinates and implements in partnership with academic and specialized institutions from Palestine, Italy, and Spain, in addition to Jordan, with support from the European Union under the Erasmus+ program for capacity building in higher education, aiming to develop the inclusive education system and promote the use of innovation and technology to support people with autism spectrum disorder and people with disabilities.

The project launch took place during the first partners' meeting held via video conferencing, with the participation of representatives from the partner institutions. The meeting marked the official commencement of the project and the definition of paths for cooperation and coordination between the partners, in a way that enhances the exchange of expertise and knowledge between Arab and European academic institutions in the fields of inclusive education and capacity building.

Project coordinator, Director of the Center for Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship, and faculty member at the College of Educational and Psychological Sciences at Amman Arab University, Dr. Samer Al-Ayasrah, welcomed the participants and reviewed the general framework of the project, its vision, objectives, and main pillars, which focus on achieving integration between special education, assistive technologies, and artificial intelligence-based applications. He also discussed employing them to develop innovative educational practices that respond to learners' needs and account for individual differences among them, noting that the project spans three years and includes the preparation and development of a specialized professional diploma, the implementation of training programs aimed at building the capacities of academic and professional staff, in addition to promoting the exchange of experiences and best practices among participating institutions, which contributes to developing inclusive educational environments and expanding access and participation opportunities in higher education for people with disabilities, particularly those with autism spectrum disorder.
