Abu Tayeh: Al-Rawdah Industrial Project Gas Supply Reduces Energy Costs

The CEO of Ma'an Development Company, Muhammad Fawaz Abu Tayeh, said that the laying of the foundation stone by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan for the project to supply Al-Rawdah Industrial in the Ma'an Development Zone with natural gas paves the way for the start of the project, which is expected to reduce energy costs for industrial establishments and increase production efficiency.

Abu Tayeh added on Monday that the project will enhance the competitive advantages of the industrial zone and support its ability to attract new industrial investments.

He explained that the project comes as a continuation of the implementation contracts signed to supply the industrial cities of Al-Rawdah and Al-Muqar with natural gas, with the support and funding of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, within efforts aimed at developing the infrastructure of the energy sector and providing more efficient and sustainable solutions for industrial establishments, thereby enhancing the ability of the Jordanian industry to grow and compete.

He said that laying the foundation stone for the project represents an important milestone in the journey of developing Al-Rawdah Industrial and a new practical step to enhance the status of the Ma'an Development Zone as a strategic destination for qualitative industrial investments.

Abu Tayeh added: "We are proud to reach the actual implementation stage of this vital project, which reflects the fruit of cooperation and integration between various national entities and supporting partners, and embodies our continuous commitment to developing a modern industrial infrastructure capable of meeting the needs of investors"

He explained that supplying Al-Rawdah Industrial with natural gas will add an important competitive advantage to the package of investment incentives enjoyed by the region, which includes electricity support through reductions in the electricity tariff for five years, employment support through wage, social security, and transportation support for three years, in addition to a 50% discount on container handling fees through the Port of Aqaba, and reduced prices for industrial lands for eligible projects.

He pointed out that providing natural gas as a more efficient and economical energy source enhances this system of incentives and contributes to reducing operational costs and improving production efficiency, thereby supporting the growth and expansion of existing projects and enhancing the attractiveness of Al-Rawdah Industrial to new investments.

Abu Tayeh confirmed that the project will also enhance the ability of Al-Rawdah Industrial to attract new investments in various productive sectors, noting that the availability of energy sources efficiently and at competitive costs is one of the most important factors influencing investment decisions, hence the importance of the project in improving the investment environment and increasing the readiness of Al-Rawdah Industrial to receive more projects.

He pointed out that the project is in line with the vision of Ma'an Development Company, which aims to build an integrated, more competitive, and sustainable industrial environment, contributing to stimulating economic activity, supporting existing investments, attracting new investments, and creating more opportunities for employment and development for the people of Ma'an Governorate.

Abu Tayeh valued the support of the United Arab Emirates, represented by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, for the project, affirming that this support reflects the depth of the fraternal relations and developmental partnership between the two brotherly countries and contributes to the implementation of strategic projects with sustainable economic and developmental impact.

He praised the efforts of the Jordanian government, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and all relevant parties and partners, and their role in completing the procedures and pushing the project towards the implementation phase, stressing the importance of continued joint work to ensure the completion of the project and achieve its desired objectives.

Abu Tayeh said that Ma'an Development Company views this project as part of an integrated system for developing Al-Rawdah Industrial and enhancing its competitiveness, and not just a project to provide energy, due to its direct impact on supporting industrial production, expanding the investment base, and enhancing economic activity in the governorate.

He affirmed that Ma'an Development Company will continue to work with various partners to develop the Ma'an Development Zone and prepare it to be a strategic destination for investment and economic growth in southern the Kingdom, through the implementation of development projects and the provision of services and infrastructure that meet the aspirations of investors and support sustainable economic and social development.
