The Minister of Investment Inspects Existing Projects and Witnesses the Signing of Agreements for Three New Investment Projects in Al-Rawdah Area in Ma'an

The Minister of Investment, Dr. Tariq Abu Ghazaleh, inspected today several existing investment projects in the Al-Rawdah Industrial Area, which is part of the Ma'an Development Region, to assess the progress, expansion plans, and investors' needs.

During the visit, which took place on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting in Ma'an Governorate, Abu Ghazaleh reviewed production operations and development plans, listened to investors' needs and challenges facing their businesses, and the necessary measures to enable their investments to expand, increase production, operation, and exports.

The visit witnessed the signing of agreements for three new investment projects in the Al-Rawdah Industrial Area, in the fields of food industries, fluorine products, agricultural pesticides, and nitrogen fertilizers, with planned investments reaching approximately 5.2 million Jordanian Dinars, and expected to provide dozens of job opportunities.

Abu Ghazaleh emphasized the importance of expanding the investment base in the governorates, within a government approach that the Ministry of Investment is working to translate into economic opportunities that support development in local communities, and enable their people to establish and develop their projects, alongside attracting new investments from various regions of the Kingdom.

He added that these projects provide models for productive investments that are capable of growth and expansion, and contribute to localizing industries and enhancing economic activity in the governorates and providing job opportunities.

The tour included a number of investments operating in the region in the fields of fertilizers and paper industries, where the Minister reviewed production lines and expansion plans, and the job opportunities they provide, in addition to the possibility of their products reaching regional and international markets.

He also listened to a briefing given by the CEO of Ma'an Development Company, Engineer Mohamed Abu Tayeh, who reviewed the reality of the region and the projects operating there, and their development plans and raising the readiness of services and infrastructure, to support the expansion of existing investments and enhance the region's ability to attract new investments.

The Council of Ministers had approved on August 2 last year a package of government incentives for the Al-Rawdah Industrial Area, with the aim of enhancing its competitiveness and encouraging the establishment of new industrial projects there, within a government approach to enhance the role of development regions in attracting investment and expanding economic activity in the governorates.

The Kingdom has 20 development regions distributed across various governorates, which witnessed during the first half of this year a growth in the volume of investments from about 5.8 billion Jordanian Dinars to nearly 6.9 billion Jordanian Dinars, by 18.79 percent, while the number of workers in them increased from about 117 thousand to nearly 123 thousand workers, with an increase of nearly 6 thousand workers, in conjunction with the attraction of new projects and the expansion of existing investments.
