The CEO of Ma'an Development Company, Engineer Muhammad Fawaz Abu Tayeh, confirmed that laying the foundation stone for the project marks an important milestone in the development journey of Al-Rawdah Industrial City, and a practical step to strengthen the status of Ma'an Development Zone as a strategic destination for qualitative industrial investments.
Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan laid the foundation stone for the project to supply Al-Rawdah Industrial City in Ma'an Development Zone with natural gas on Sunday morning. This step paves the way for the start of the project, which is expected to reduce energy costs for industrial establishments, increase production efficiency, and enhance the region's competitive advantages and its ability to attract new industrial investments.
The project is a continuation of the implementation contracts signed to supply the industrial cities of Al-Rawdah and Al-Muqar with natural gas, with support and funding from the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, as part of efforts to develop the infrastructure of the energy sector and provide more efficient and sustainable solutions for industrial establishments, thereby enhancing the ability of the Jordanian industry to grow and compete.
Abu Tayeh said: “We are proud to reach the actual implementation stage of this vital project, which reflects the fruit of cooperation and integration between various national entities and supporting partners, and embodies our ongoing commitment to developing a modern industrial infrastructure capable of meeting the needs of investors.”
He explained that supplying Al-Rawdah Industrial City with natural gas will add an important competitive advantage to the package of investment incentives enjoyed by the region, which includes electricity support through reductions in electricity tariffs for five years, employment support through wage, social security, and transportation subsidies for three years, along with a 50% discount on container handling fees through Aqaba Port, and reduced prices for industrial lands for eligible projects.
Abu Tayeh pointed out that providing natural gas as a more efficient and economical energy source enhances this system of incentives and contributes to reducing operational costs and improving production efficiency, thereby supporting the growth and expansion of existing projects and enhancing the attractiveness of Al-Rawdah Industrial City to new investments.
Abu Tayeh confirmed that the project will also enhance Al-Rawdah Industrial City's ability to attract new investments in various productive sectors, noting that the availability of energy sources efficiently and at competitive costs is one of the most important factors influencing investment decisions. Hence, the importance of the project in improving the investment environment and increasing Al-Rawdah Industrial City's readiness to receive more projects.
He pointed out that the project aligns with Ma'an Development Company's vision to build an integrated, more competitive, and sustainable industrial environment, contributing to stimulating economic activity, supporting existing investments, attracting new investments, and creating more job and development opportunities for the people of Ma'an Governorate.
Abu Tayeh appreciated the support of the United Arab Emirates, represented by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, for the project, affirming that this support reflects the depth of brotherly relations and developmental partnership between the two brotherly countries, and contributes to the implementation of strategic projects with sustainable economic and developmental impact.
Abu Tayeh praised the efforts of the Jordanian government, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and all relevant authorities and partners, and their role in completing the procedures and pushing the project towards the implementation phase, emphasizing the importance of continued joint work to ensure the completion of the project and achieve its desired objectives.
Abu Tayeh considered that Ma'an Development Company views this project as part of an integrated system for developing Al-Rawdah Industrial City and enhancing its competitiveness, not just a project to provide energy, due to its direct impact on supporting industrial production, expanding the investment base, and enhancing economic activity in the governorate.
Abu Tayeh renewed Ma'an Development Company's keenness to work with various partners to develop Ma'an Development Zone and prepare it to be a strategic destination for investment and economic growth in southern the Kingdom, through the implementation of developmental projects and the provision of services and infrastructure that meet the aspirations of investors and support sustainable economic and social development.
