Prime Minister Jafar Hassan laid the foundation stone for the project to supply natural gas to Al-Rawdah Industrial City, which belongs to the Ma'an Development Region, before he chaired a Cabinet meeting in Ma'an Governorate, at a cost of approximately 10 million dinars, with an Emirati grant from the Abu Dhabi Development Fund, out of a total grant of nearly 50 million dinars provided by the Fund to support projects supplying industrial cities with natural gas in a number of governorates.
The project comes within the government's strategy to supply industrial areas with natural gas in various regions of the Kingdom, which contributes to reducing energy costs for industries by rates ranging between 35-60%, as the government has completed similar projects and inaugurated them in the south of Aqaba, Al-Quwayrah, Al-Qastel, and Al-Hashimiyah, and is currently working on the projects of Al-Rawdah Industrial City and Al-Muwaqqar, while studies are being completed regarding the establishment of two new projects in the King Hussein Development Region in Mafraq and Zarqa.
The project to supply Al-Rawdah Industrial City with natural gas will be completed within 18 months, and will contribute to enhancing the competitiveness and attractiveness of Al-Rawdah Industrial City for investment, in addition to supporting the industrial sector and enhancing national exports, and providing job opportunities for the local community.
The launch of the project comes within the framework of the government's efforts to enhance the attractiveness of Ma'an Governorate as a whole for investment, and after the Cabinet decided to grant Al-Rawdah Industrial City investment incentives and advantages, similar to the industrial cities of Karak and Tafila, which include supporting energy costs, wages for operating local labor, reducing container handling costs at the Port of Aqaba, and reducing land prices.
