A seminar titled "The Hashemite Patronage of the Holy Quran" was held at the Amman International Book Fair, under the patronage of the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom, Dr. Ahmad Al-Hasanat, and with the participation of Dr. Hatem Suhaimat. It addressed the aspects of the Hashemite patronage of the Holy Quran and the noble Quran, as well as Jordanian efforts in serving it and spreading its teachings.
Al-Hasanat emphasized that Jordan pays great attention and care to the Holy Quran through programs for teaching, memorizing, and reciting the Book of God in mosques, Quranic houses, and summer centers. He pointed to the Royal initiative for reciting the Holy Quran in the Kingdom's mosques, under which worshippers read one juz' (part) of the Quran daily following prayers, allowing for its collective completion once every Hijri month.
He explained that the initiative currently includes about 300 mosques, with aspirations to expand its scope to cover various mosques and prayer halls across the Kingdom, stressing the importance of these initiatives in strengthening the community's connection to the Holy Quran and instilling a culture of reciting and contemplating it.
He also reviewed the aspects of the Hashemite patronage of the Holy Quran and the efforts made by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Holy Places in supporting Quranic houses, Quranic centers, and educational programs, alongside the "Al-Mustafa Endowment" in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, as one of the forms of care for Islamic sanctities in Jerusalem.
For his part, Suhaimat, Director of Sharia Education at the Ministry of Awqaf, discussed the role of Jordanian institutions in caring for and serving the Holy Quran, and the importance of continuing efforts aimed at enhancing its presence in community life.
The seminar comes within the cultural program of the Amman International Book Fair, which includes various intellectual and cultural activities.
