A parliamentary delegation inspects the progress of the Irbid Ring Road project

The "MPs in the Field" initiative continued its inspection tours, where it reviewed today the works completed in the Irbid Ring Road project (Ring Road), accompanied by the Director of Public Works of Irbid Governorate, Engineer Rehab Al-Otoom, to review the final part of the first phase of the project.

The initiative today included MPs Abdul Nasser Al-Khasawneh, Tariq Bani Hani, Shaher Shatnawi, Abdul Halim Al-Anabrah, and Muhammad Zaki Bani Melhem.

Engineer Rehab Al-Otoom, Director of Public Works of Irbid Governorate, provided a summary of the progress and completion rates, indicating that the completion rate in the section extending from Shatna Tunnel towards Ktm Bridge and Tunnel is about 75%. It is expected that this phase, once operational, will help reduce traffic congestion and save drivers approximately 45 minutes on their route.

Regarding the completion of the first phase of the road, extending 5 kilometers from Al-Hisn area to the Irbid-Amman intersection, Al-Otoom explained that the earthworks are expected to be completed by the end of this year, noting that the completion of paving and finalization is linked to the provision of the necessary financial allocations, which are expected to be completed by 2027 if funding is available.

MP Abdul Nasser Al-Khasawneh stressed the need to complete the road phases even if it is in parts of two or three kilometers to ensure the project does not stop, emphasizing the importance of allocating the necessary financial amounts and expediting the implementation of the works according to the timelines and completing them before the winter season.

MP Tariq Bani Hani emphasized the necessity of completing the project in a way that serves the residents of the governorate and reduces traffic congestion, pointing out that limiting the completion to limited parts does not fully achieve the desired traffic benefit.

MP Abdul Halim Al-Anabrah stressed the need to expedite the completion of this road as it is a vital and central road that serves not only Irbid but also all the northern governorates.

MP Shaher Shatnawi explained that if the project is completed in full, it will reduce the heavy traffic pressure on the center of Irbid city and will become one of the strategic projects serving the residents of all northern governorates.

MP Muhammad Zaki Bani Melhem confirmed that this road connects the districts of Irbid Governorate with each other and is one of the vital roads that many citizens use daily, stressing the need to complete it as soon as possible to facilitate the movement of the governorate's residents.

The MPs agreed that the delay in completing and finalizing the second and third phases and the lack of providing the necessary financial allocations for them would deprive the project of its intended goal of alleviating the traffic congestion that Irbid Governorate and its districts suffer from, affirming that they will communicate directly with the government to support the project and provide the financial allocations necessary for the implementation and completion of all its phases.
