Al-Dughaimat added that the initiative seeks to bring the book closer to community members, create diverse opportunities for reading outside traditional frameworks, so that the book becomes a companion to the traveler, student, and citizen, and waiting and commuting times are transformed into opportunities to acquire knowledge and enjoy reading.
She pointed out that the initiative's activities started from the Al-Mazra'a intersection and reached the Martyr Salam Al-Awneh Park, in a step aimed at delivering the book to people where they are, and enhancing the presence of reading in public spaces, contributing to building a sustainable relationship between the reader and the book, and encouraging various age groups to read and discover worlds of knowledge.
She noted that the initiative was implemented in cooperation and with the support of the Karak Governorate Directorate of Culture, under the patronage of the Director of the Ghor Al-Mazra'a Subdistrict, Ali Al-Quwaider, and with the participation and support of community figures from the Ghor, appreciating the efforts of the supporting and backing entities that contributed to the success of the initiative and the enhancement of its cultural and community message.
The event also witnessed the donation of a collection of books to the library, supporting the initiative's journey, expanding opportunities to access knowledge sources, and embodying the value of sharing and circulating books among readers, allowing the largest possible number of community members to benefit from them.
Al-Dughaimat emphasized that the importance of the initiative is not limited to distributing books or providing them in public places, but rather lies in delivering a cultural message that motivates society to read, and affirms that the book increases in value when it moves from the shelves into the hands of readers, to become a source of knowledge and inspiration, and a tool for developing thought and expanding horizons.
She explained that the «A Friend on the Way» initiative comes within the activities and events of «We Read to Elevate – Today’s Reader is Tomorrow’s Leader», which aims to spread the culture of reading and raise awareness of its importance in the life of the individual and society, pointing to the aspirations of its organizers to continue implementing cultural activities that bring the book closer to people, and give reading a wider space in daily life.
Al-Dughaimat concluded her remarks by emphasizing that the initiative's message is to encourage everyone to take a book with them wherever they go, saying: «Take a book with you, for it may be the most beautiful companion on the road», in an open invitation to make reading a continuous habit, and knowledge a constant companion in the journey of life.
