The Zarqa Governorate Public Works Directorate has completed inspection and cleaning operations for box and pipe culverts, flood channels, and rainwater drains in various vital locations and hot spots across the governorate, as part of the approved emergency plan for comprehensive preparedness to face winter weather conditions and their repercussions.
The field operations witnessed full and direct cooperation and coordination between the Public Works Directorate and the concerned municipalities; the efforts of field crews and machinery combined to work hand-in-hand in addressing critical points and hot spots, particularly in the Birin area, specifically the "Al-Khalla Road" and the surrounding flood channels, in addition to extending the work to all areas and hot spots in the governorate (Russeifa, Dhlail, Azraq, and Sukhna).
The comprehensive campaign included the removal of dirt, sediments, and debris obstructing water channels to ensure their absolute flow and to prevent the clogging of culverts or the formation of floods that could inundate main and secondary roads and residential neighborhoods.
For his part, the Director of Zarqa Public Works, Engineer Mohammad Al-Habashin, confirmed that the machinery and field teams are working to the fullest extent and at the highest levels of readiness and rapid response, with human and technical staff equipped to deal with various emergency situations.
Al-Habashin praised the follow-up and effective partnership with administrative governors and municipalities, stressing that this integration embodies the spirit of teamwork to deal with all hot spots immediately, ensure the highest levels of public safety, protect the lives and property of citizens, and ensure the smooth flow of traffic throughout the rainy season.
