Zarqa.. 10.4 million dinars for development and service projects in various sectors

The Zarqa Governorate Council continues to implement and monitor development and service projects across various regions of the governorate, within a budget aimed at improving the level of services, developing infrastructure, and strengthening the health, agricultural, youth, and sports sectors, in coordination with government directorates, municipalities, and relevant executive authorities.

The head of the Zarqa Governorate Council committee, Engineer Jamal Abu Eid, said that the council is working to convert financial allocations into projects with a tangible impact on citizens' lives, stressing that its role is not limited to monitoring budgets, but also includes setting priorities, following up on implementation, and measuring results on the ground.

Abu Eid explained, in an interview with "Al-Rai," that the council relies in its work on identifying the governorate's needs, prioritizing them, allocating funds, and following up on the stages of tendering, awarding, and implementation, up to evaluating the achievement and the extent of its reflection on the level of services.

He pointed out that the council has allocated a budget of 10 million and 416 thousand dinars to implement projects, which include various sectors and regions in the governorate, noting that work is underway in coordination with seven municipalities and government directorates, including Education, Health, Tourism, Youth and Sports, and technical and industrial institutes.

In the public works and roads sector, Abu Eid indicated that the council has allocated 1.412 million dinars within the 2026 budget to the Zarqa Public Works Directorate to implement 13 projects, including the maintenance and rehabilitation of main, secondary, rural, and agricultural roads, the construction of box culverts, gabion works, rainwater drainage, and the improvement of traffic safety.

In the agricultural sector, he explained that the council has earmarked 55 thousand dinars for the expansion of the veterinary building, the construction of a second floor, and the installation of a solar energy system, with the completion rate of the project reaching about 80%.

It also allocated 42 thousand dinars for the land reclamation and agricultural development project, which included the construction of 28 wells in a number of the governorate's regions, which has been fully completed, in addition to completing projects related to vaccines, veterinary medicines, agricultural pest control, and medical supplies.

In the health sector, Abu Eid pointed to the implementation of the rehabilitation and maintenance project for the Al-Aluk Health Center at a cost of 35 thousand dinars, over three months, which included treating a wall that posed a danger, carrying out internal and external maintenance work, and creating facilities to serve people with disabilities.

Regarding the Shabib Health Center, he explained that the council funded the purchase of the land plot allocated for the center at the end of 2025, at a cost of about 170 thousand dinars, while work is underway to prepare the necessary studies and designs in preparation for moving to the next stages.

He pointed out that the council also supported the purchase of medical equipment for hospitals and health centers in the governorate, and the majority of these projects have been completed.

Abu Eid emphasized that the youth and sports sector receives the council's attention, as it is an investment in local energies and capabilities, explaining that the maintenance project for the Zarqa Youth Hostel, which began on August 2, 2026, has reached a completion rate of about 100%, with the aim of providing a suitable environment for youth programs, camps, and activities.

He noted that the semi-Olympic heated swimming pool project at Prince Mohammed Youth City, the value of which is about 643.7 thousand dinars, has achieved a completion rate of nearly 70%, stating that the project will provide a sports facility that can be used throughout the year and will support training and the development of sports talent.

Within the framework of cooperation with municipalities, Abu Eid stressed that the success of development work requires integration between the council, executive authorities, and municipalities, so that priorities are set and allocations are made, while the competent authorities handle implementation, supervision, and follow-up.

He explained that the road lighting project in the Birin District, for which 52 thousand dinars were allocated, has been fully completed in cooperation with the municipality, and has contributed to improving lighting and traffic safety.

He added that the council allocated 163 thousand dinars for the rainwater drainage project in the Zarqa Municipality to address a number of hotspots, while it earmarked 120 thousand dinars for the rehabilitation of the Zarqa River in Ruseifa, in addition to 10 thousand dinars for the maintenance of an existing pedestrian bridge over the river, which enhances the protection of residents and neighboring areas from the risks of water flow during the rainy season.

In the Hashimiya Municipality, he pointed to the awarding of a project for street maintenance and the implementation of necessary patching, while allocations were made to purchase a plot of land for the establishment of an industrial and craft zone in the Dulayl Municipality, and the tender was awarded and the necessary correspondence was completed to finalize the procedures related to the land.

Abu Eid confirmed that the council monitors projects in the field in coordination with directorates, government agencies, and municipalities to check on the stages of implementation and the challenges they face, and to verify that work is proceeding according to the established plans.

He explained that the council is keen to announce projects when the information related to them is complete and they have reached clear stages, such as awarding tenders, starting implementation, or completion, to ensure the accuracy of the information provided to the public.
