West Bank.. 11 Israeli attacks on farmers and deportation of 14 solidarity activists

Palestinian farmers in the West Bank were subjected, on Sunday, to 11 attacks carried out by the Israeli army and settlers, targeting olive pickers, while Israel decided to deport 14 foreign solidarity activists.

The Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission (a government body) stated in a statement that it monitored "11 attacks carried out by the occupation forces and colonists against olive pickers and their lands in 5 governorates in the West Bank" on Sunday.

It added that the attacks included "assaulting farmers, beating them, injuring a number of them with bruises, stealing agricultural equipment and property, sabotaging trees and vehicles, and preventing citizens from accessing their lands, coinciding with bulldozing operations targeting olive groves to build colonial roads and expand existing outposts."

In addition to these attacks, the Commission stated that the Israeli authorities decided to deport 14 foreign solidarity activists after arresting them while they were participating in supporting Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest season near the village of Al-Lubban al-Gharbi, northwest of Ramallah (center).

It explained that the solidarity activists are from 7 countries: the United States, Italy, Ireland, Switzerland, Portugal, the Netherlands, and Australia.

It clarified that "the deportation decision comes in the context of escalating Israeli measures targeting international solidarity activists participating in protecting and supporting farmers during the harvest season."

According to the Palestinian Commission, "the continuous attacks on the olive season reveal a direct overlap between the violence targeting farmers and the measures aimed at expanding colonial control over Palestinian lands."

It stressed that targeting farmers, stealing their equipment, and sabotaging their trees, while simultaneously pursuing and deporting international solidarity activists, "reflects the occupation's efforts to undermine the ability of Palestinians to protect their lands and continue to invest in them, and to weaken the forms of civil support that accompany the harvest season."

It warned that "the continuation of these practices threatens to turn the restrictions imposed on access to agricultural lands into a permanent reality of exclusion and control."

It called on the international community to "intervene effectively to stop the attacks of the occupation forces and colonists, ensure the protection of Palestinian farmers and their right to safe access to their lands, and stop the measures targeting international solidarity activists participating in supporting them."

Since the start of the olive harvest season in early October, settlers have escalated their attacks against Palestinian farmers, resulting in deaths, injuries, and property damage.

Since the start of the Israeli genocidal war in Gaza in October 2023, the Israeli army and settlers have escalated their attacks on Palestinians and their property in the West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem, which resulted in the killing of more than 1,220 Palestinians, the injury of about 13,350 people, and the arrest of more than 26,000 others.
