The Commission had established 'Halaqat' in November 2022, with the aim of supporting selected teams consisting of Jordanian or resident writers or co-writers and helping them develop their TV series under the supervision of professional Jordanian, Arab, and international advisors in the fields of scriptwriting and marketing. The program continued through three stages that started on July 7, consisting of two training laboratories that lasted for several months to develop the participating series projects, combining face-to-face training and virtual sessions, to reach a complete pilot episode script and a comprehensive series file (Series Bible).
The Halaqat program ended with a project market on September 29, where advisors and seasoned screenwriters supervised the writing laboratory, including Samaa Abdel-Khaleq from Egypt, Rami Kousa from Syria, Mahmoud Ali Al-Majboud from Morocco, Shereen Kamal from Jordan, and advisor Ziad Saruji from Lebanon and Mariam Na'am from Egypt supervised the pitch training.
The program was designed to help participants understand the requirements of the series industry, develop their writing, pitching, and networking tools, and transform their projects from ideas and texts under development into projects more ready for professional collaboration and production. The program also resulted in the development of 12 TV series.
The Commission also hosted the Halaqat project market on Monday, September 28, and Tuesday, September 29, 2026, where the selected teams presented their projects to representatives of local, regional, and international production companies, TV channels, and streaming platforms, in addition to holding individual meetings and providing networking opportunities and opening potential paths for development, production, and professional collaboration.
In addition to the projects that underwent development stages throughout the program, Halaqat for this cycle also provided an opportunity for Jordanian screenwriters and production companies that have completed or professionally developed series projects and are looking for collaboration and joint production opportunities to apply directly to the project market, and four projects were accepted, expanding the circle of participation and providing an opportunity for projects at different stages of readiness to benefit from market opportunities.
The Halaqat market gives participants a direct opportunity to introduce their projects to entities actually working in the series industry, instead of stopping the program at the limits of theoretical training, which helps build new professional relationships and explore real potential for development, financing, and production. After the program ends, the Sard Dramatic Writing Room will consider selecting a number of projects and incorporating them into its works, and collaborating with their owners in developing and marketing them within Sard projects.
The Halaqat program is part of the Royal Film Commission of Jordan's ongoing efforts to support Jordanian talents, develop the capabilities of those working in the television and audiovisual content industry, and build more effective bridges between local talents and decision-makers in the production and platform sectors within Jordan and the Arab region.
It is worth noting that the event witnessed the participation of more than 17 entities from the most prominent production entities, channels, and media platforms from various parts of the Arab region, three of which participated via the Internet, including Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, and Kuwait, in addition to the participation of more than 16 Jordanian production entities, channels, and producers.
