The Municipality Uses Beneficial Bacteria to Reduce Unwanted Odors in Downtown

The Greater Amman Municipality, through the Disease Vector Control and Animal Welfare Department, has started a field trial to use beneficial bacteria at several sites in Downtown Amman, as part of its efforts to develop environmental treatment methods and reduce unwanted odors.

This technique relies on using biopreparations containing beneficial microorganisms that break down organic materials and waste, which are sources of odors, thereby reducing odors and improving environmental conditions at the targeted sites.

The Municipality explained that this trial comes within the Greater Amman Municipality's approach to implementing sustainable environmental solutions and leveraging modern biotechnology to address some environmental challenges within urban areas.

It added that the trial is subject to field monitoring and evaluation by specialized teams, aiming to measure the effectiveness of using beneficial bacteria in reducing odors and to study the possibility of expanding their use to other sites based on the evaluation results.

It pointed out that this measure is part of an integrated system that includes cleanliness work, field treatment, and continuous monitoring of sites, thereby enhancing the efficiency of the measures taken and contributing to improving the general environment in Downtown Amman.

The Municipality affirmed that it is continuing to search for practical, innovative, and sustainable solutions that contribute to raising the level of municipal services and improving the quality of the urban environment, especially in areas with high population and commercial density.

This trial is part of the Greater Amman Municipality's efforts to enhance modern environmental practices and develop tools for dealing with odor sources, in line with its orientation towards sustainability and improving the quality of life in Amman.
