Greater Amman Municipality: Hookah Ban in Parks and Public Facilities

The Greater Amman Municipality has announced the launch of an executive plan in cooperation with the Ministries of Health and Interior and security services to strictly enforce the ban on bringing, using, and smoking hookah in parks and public facilities across all areas of Amman, in implementation of the directives of Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan.

This measure comes out of concern for the safety of citizens and visitors to these sites and their right to recreation, and to preserve the general and civilized appearance of parks and public facilities.

The Municipality explained that the executive plan includes installing warning signs, organizing awareness workshops for citizens to promote environmental and health culture, and increasing the number of health inspector patrols.

The Municipality indicated that there will be mobile patrols and inspection teams, operating in the morning and evening, in cooperation with security services for periodic inspections and comprehensive field monitoring.

It confirmed that violators will be fined directly in accordance with the provisions of the Public Nuisance Prevention Regulation No. (83) of 2024, and violations will be referred to the Amman Municipality Court judge to determine the due fines, in cooperation with administrative governors.
