Irbid Municipality: Intensive field teams to ban "hookahs" and tighten control over public facilities

The official spokesperson for Greater Irbid Municipality, Ghaith Al-Tal, confirmed that the municipality continues to enforce the Public Health Law and tighten control—as has been the custom previously—on banning the serving or use of "hookahs" in all places and public facilities under its jurisdiction.

Al-Tal indicated that the municipality recently banned the use of hookahs on the "municipality stairs," and is working to intensify oversight across all areas and facilities belonging to the municipality, noting that it will not allow any violations in this regard. He pointed out that these measures are being implemented in accordance with Prime Ministry communiqués and government directives to preserve public health and the environment.

For his part, the Director of the Health Affairs Directorate at the municipality, Engineer Yahya Al-Omari, said that there are inspection teams from the Health Affairs Directorate working to monitor the implementation of this decision around the clock, and are conducting periodic field tours of all public facilities such as parks, squares, and the municipality stairs.

Al-Omari stressed that the teams will not be lenient at all with any violation, and that anyone caught will be immediately referred to court to take legal action against them, calling on citizens to fully cooperate and adhere to the instructions to avoid legal accountability.
