The Ministry of Justice begins implementing two Palace of Justice projects in the governorates of Aqaba and Tafilah

As part of its plan to modernize buildings and develop the infrastructure of judicial facilities, the Ministry of Justice has begun procedures to implement two projects to establish Palaces of Justice in the governorates of Aqaba and Tafilah, in accordance with the ministry's approved architectural visual identity, and in a manner that enhances the efficiency of judicial facilities and upgrades the level of services provided to citizens.

In this context, Minister of Justice Dr. Bassam Samir Al-Talhouni said that the two projects constitute an important step in developing judicial facilities by constructing modern buildings that take into account the requirements of judicial and administrative work, and provide a suitable environment for litigants and those working in the justice sector, while taking into account sustainability standards and accessibility for persons with disabilities, thus contributing to facilitating access to justice.

Al-Talhouni explained that the Ministry of Justice has worked to allocate the necessary financial appropriations during 2026 to prepare studies, designs, and prepare implementation tender documents for the two projects, in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, noting that the estimated total area for each building ranges between 9,000 and 10,000 square meters, on land allocated with an area of 10 dunums for each project.

He pointed out that the engineering designs for the two buildings take into account the application of the green building concept and highlighting the approved architectural visual identity for judicial buildings affiliated with the ministry, in addition to providing the necessary technical requirements, equipment, and electromechanical systems, ensuring the integration of facilities and their responsiveness to the needs of modern judicial work.

He indicated that the estimated cost for constructing both the Tafilah and Aqaba Palaces of Justice ranges between 6.5 and 7 million dinars, and implementation tenders are expected to be issued during the second quarter of 2027, with the implementation period for each project expected to take between three and four years.

It is noteworthy that the construction of the two buildings comes within the ministry's directives to modernize court infrastructure and develop the environment for providing judicial services, in line with efforts to modernize the justice system, and enhances the efficiency of judicial facilities and the quality of services provided to citizens, within a unified architectural environment that reflects the institutional and visual identity of the Ministry of Justice.
