His Majesty King Abdullah II affirmed, during a multilateral meeting held today, Tuesday, at the invitation of US President Donald Trump and with the participation of heads of delegations from Arab and Islamic countries, that current regional circumstances require the highest levels of restraint.
During the meeting, held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings, His Majesty stressed Jordan's continued close coordination with the US administration to achieve peace and stability in the region.
His Majesty warned of the danger of increasing the pace of escalation and expanding the conflict in the West Bank and Gaza as the date of the Israeli elections approaches, pointing out that any reckless actions of this kind could ignite the region and disrupt American efforts to restore calm.
Speaking about the West Bank, His Majesty the King said that despite President Trump's firm stance against the annexation of West Bank territories, the policies of the Israeli government contradict this.
His Majesty emphasized the necessity of stopping Israeli violations in Syria, which undermine efforts to achieve stability in the region.
His Majesty the King added that these violations pose a direct threat to the Kingdom's national security.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty, Engineer Alaa Batayneh, and Jordan's Ambassador to Washington Dina Kawar.
