The Council of Ministers approves the teaching profession license system for 2026

The Council of Ministers, in its meeting held on Tuesday, chaired by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, approved the teaching profession license system for 2026.

According to the system, every teacher currently working in educational institutions in the public and private sectors is considered to have a teaching license by default, where the system applies to teachers who will be hired in the future starting from the next academic year 2027-2028.

The system aims to regulate the practice of the teaching profession in the Kingdom, by adopting an official license granted by the Ministry of Education as a condition for practicing the profession in all educational institutions and ensuring that education is undertaken by individuals with the necessary scientific and professional qualifications, thereby enhancing the efficiency of the educational system and guaranteeing the right of students to quality education.

According to the system, a unified legal framework will be established for granting a teaching profession license by setting clear criteria for obtaining and renewing the license, applicable to employees in the public and private sectors and educational institutions managed by the Jordanian Armed Forces and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.

The system aims to enhance the professional capabilities and competencies of teachers through passing teaching profession practice tests, which raises the level of educational performance and enhances the educational level of students and the capabilities of teachers.

It also aims to align the legislation governing the teaching profession with national directions and development plans, in line with the national strategy for human resource development, the vision for modernizing the public sector, and in support of the strategic objectives of the economic modernization vision.

A mechanism will be established that includes clear governance through the formation of a specialized committee that grants teaching profession licenses and adopts the necessary policies, standards, and tools, enabling the Ministry to continuously monitor the quality of education and professional development procedures.
