During the sit-in, in which the university president, faculty members, administrative staff, and students participated, they denounced this criminal act, affirming their standing as one front in the face of everything that targets Jordan's security, stability, and national fabric.
The university president, Dr. Atef Al-Kharabsheh, affirmed that this sinful terrorist attack constitutes a crime that is religiously, morally, and humanely unacceptable, and an assault on the values and established principles of Jordanian society, stressing that targeting places of worship and safe citizens will not succeed in undermining the unity of Jordanians or compromising their national constants, and will find no way to sow division among the people of one nation.
Al-Kharabsheh said that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein, will remain a firm model of national cohesion, fraternity, and coexistence, and that Jordanians, both Muslims and Christians, form a single national fabric, united by the bonds of brotherhood, citizenship, history, and a shared destiny. He affirmed the support of the Al-Hussein Bin Talal University family for the families of the martyrs and the injured, their absolute rejection of all forms of terrorism and extremism, and the necessity of consolidating the values of tolerance, moderation, dialogue, and acceptance of the other.
The Professor of Islamic Studies at the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Othman, affirmed that the attack on innocent people and places of worship contradicts the religious and human values based on preserving human life and upholding human dignity, noting that the tolerant teachings of Islam call for mercy, tolerance, and coexistence, and reject aggression, injustice, and the terrorizing of safe people.
He stressed that confronting extremist ideology is a shared responsibility that requires strengthening correct religious awareness, consolidating a culture of moderation, and immunizing youth against deviant ideas that target the security and unity of society.
In turn, the Dean of Student Affairs at the university, Dr. Mohammad Al-Nuaimat, indicated that this sit-in expresses the firm national and humanitarian stance of the university family in rejecting terrorism in all its forms, and standing by the people of the nation in the face of adversity and challenges.
He pointed out that the role of universities is not limited to education and knowledge, but extends to building national awareness among students and strengthening the values of citizenship, belonging, and social responsibility. He added that such stances embody the unity of Jordanians and their rallying around their Hashemite leadership, and confirm that targeting any component of society is a targeting of the entire nation.
The sit-in included the recitation of Al-Fatiha for the souls of the martyrs and the raising of Jordanian flags, in a scene that embodied feelings of solidarity and national cohesion, and affirmed support for the victims' families and wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured.
Al-Hussein Bin Talal University affirmed that its national and academic mission will continue to be based on consolidating the values of citizenship, tolerance, and moderation, promoting a culture of dialogue and acceptance of the other, and immunizing the consciousness of youth against extremist ideology, in a way that contributes to protecting the Jordanian social fabric and safeguarding the nation's unity, security, and stability.
