Al-Hussein Bin Talal University condemned the armed attack that targeted the Greek Orthodox Church – Hamoud in Karak Governorate, affirming that targeting innocent people and violating the sanctity of places of worship is an unacceptable crime that contradicts human, religious, and national values, and requires taking the necessary legal measures against its perpetrators.
The university emphasized that Jordan's security, stability, and the unity of its national fabric are firm constants that cannot be compromised, and that an attack on any Jordanian citizen is an attack on all Jordanians, stressing that the unity of Jordanians, Muslims and Christians, represents a firm model of brotherhood, tolerance, and coexistence, and that attempts to undermine this unity will not affect the cohesion and resilience of Jordanian society.
The university stressed the importance of rallying around the Hashemite leadership and supporting the Jordanian Armed Forces – the Arab Army, and the security services in their efforts to protect the homeland and safeguard its security and stability, and the necessity of verifying accuracy and obtaining information from its official sources, and not being led by rumors or any discourse that would incite strife and division.
The university extended its sincere condolences and sympathy to the families and relatives of the victims, asking the Almighty God to bestow His vast mercy upon the deceased, to grant the injured a speedy recovery, and to protect Jordan, its leadership and people, and to perpetuate the blessing of security, safety, and national unity upon it.
