Public Works begins maintenance, milling, and paving of Airport Road

The Ministry of Public Works and Housing announced the commencement of maintenance and rehabilitation works for a section of Airport Road, opposite Al-Nakheel Village, starting tomorrow evening, Wednesday, as part of its plan to improve the efficiency of the main road network and enhance traffic safety levels.

The Ministry explained in its statement that the works will be carried out during night hours only, from 11:00 PM until 6:00 AM, with Thursday night's work continuing until 11:00 AM on Friday, in order to minimize the impact of maintenance work on traffic flow on Airport Road, which is considered a vital road that experiences heavy traffic throughout the day.

The Ministry indicated that the choice of night working hours comes within the framework of its keenness to maintain smooth traffic flow and avoid carrying out work during peak hours, thereby limiting closures and traffic diversions and their impact on road users.

The works are being carried out as part of the tender for the maintenance of asphalt mixtures, the implementation of traffic safety works, and the protection of water facilities and rainwater drainage on main roads in the Central Region.

The works include milling the existing asphalt mixture and repaving the site using a polymer-modified basalt asphalt mixture, which enhances the road's durability and increases its operational efficiency and ability to withstand traffic loads and weather conditions, in addition to implementing traffic safety works, including road markings and cat's eyes.

The Ministry emphasized that these works come within the periodic and preventive maintenance programs it implements on the road network in various regions of the Kingdom, with the aim of maintaining the sustainability of infrastructure, extending the operational life of roads, and improving the level of services provided to their users.

It pointed out that the works will be carried out in coordination and cooperation with the Traffic Department, and in accordance with a temporary traffic plan that takes into account the specificity and importance of Airport Road, and ensures the maintenance of smooth traffic flow and the safety of road users and workers at the project site.

The Ministry called on drivers to exercise caution when approaching the work area, to adhere to warning signs and signals and specified speeds, and to comply with the instructions of the Ministry's personnel and the Public Security Directorate, confirming its keenness to complete the works according to the specified schedule and with the least possible impact on traffic.
