Public Works: A defect in the sewage line caused damage to the Kufranja road

The Ministry of Public Works and Housing clarified that the water that appeared in some parts of the Kufranja road was due to a defect in the existing sewage line in the area, which led to water leaking beneath the road layers and emerging through the stone retaining wall (gabion).

The Ministry stated in a statement today, Sunday, that the road was executed according to approved technical specifications and was equipped with side trenches designated for collecting rainwater and surface water and discharging them toward existing culverts, ensuring the protection of the road and preventing water accumulation on it.

It indicated that the damages that appeared are primarily linked to leaks from existing service lines and the resulting impact on the road layers, even if it is newly constructed and executed according to the required technical specifications.

The Ministry confirmed that it has carried out the necessary maintenance and treatments at the site, including the maintenance of sewage manholes and the repair of damaged parts of the asphalt mix, which contributes to addressing the damages and maintaining the safety of the road, noting its continued monitoring of the site and its commitment to citizens' safety and the protection of infrastructure.
