Public Works closes the Al-Rama – Al-Jofah road following the appearance of cracks and begins reconstruction of a new drainage facility starting tomorrow

The Ministry of Public Works and Housing announced the closure of the Al-Rama – Al-Jofah road, from the Al-Rama signal located on the Dead Sea road to the Al-Jofah roundabout on the Al-Kafrain – Al-Jofah road, to preserve public safety, following the appearance of cracks in the bridge located on the road, which were exacerbated by the very heavy rains the region witnessed recently.

The Ministry explained that the existing bridge is very old and was originally included in the Ministry’s plans for reconstruction, due to its age and the presence of previous defects and cracks that did not pose a danger to road users; however, the heavy rains witnessed by the region led to the worsening of these cracks, which necessitated closing the road to preserve the safety of citizens.

The Ministry confirmed that it will begin, starting tomorrow, taking the necessary immediate measures to reconstruct the water drainage facility above the valley in implementation of its previous plans in this regard, stressing that it will work to accelerate implementation procedures and complete the required works as quickly as possible to reopen the road to traffic once the works are completed and its safety is ensured.

The Ministry called on citizens to use alternative roads, represented by the Al-Kafrain road or the Baptism Site road, in addition to the internal roads known to the residents of the area, until the reconstruction works are completed, confirming its keenness to reduce the duration of the closure and limit its impact on the movement and travel of citizens.
