Prime Minister: The Aqaba port system operates with high efficiency and constitutes a major regional gateway

Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan affirmed in a post on social media today that "the Aqaba port system operates with high efficiency and has become a major regional gateway for many brotherly countries." Dr. Hassan said, "We have taken important government decisions over the past year that have had a significant impact on accelerating handling, clearance, and storage procedures, enhancing trade, and sustaining supply chains."

He added, "The Aqaba-Shidiya-Ma'an railway and the Aqaba-Ma'an dry port are two strategic development projects that integrate with the development of the port system and constitute a top priority for the government."

The Prime Minister attached an explanatory video to the post, which included an inspection tour to review the workflow in the Aqaba port system, during which Dr. Hassan emphasized the need to accelerate the completion of expansion and development projects to enhance the efficiency of the ports and their ability to handle trade traffic.

Hassan also inspected the oil port in Aqaba, emphasizing the importance of the development and expansion projects currently being implemented there to increase its capacity and enhance its ability to meet the requirements of the coming phase.

Hassan said that the crisis we faced represents an opportunity to strengthen the role of the Aqaba port to become a central port for the region in the long term, not just during this phase.
