MPs: The royal speech outlines the Jordanian stance in the face of regional changes

MPs, committees, and parliamentary blocs said that the speech by His Majesty King Abdullah II, delivered yesterday, Tuesday, before the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, outlined the Jordanian stance in the face of regional changes.

They explained in separate statements and statements that real peace is not achieved by ignoring or postponing crises, but by addressing their roots and the international community bearing its responsibilities, stressing that the royal message confirms that Jordan's principles do not change with changing circumstances or the level of international attention, and that the Kingdom will continue its responsible role in supporting peace and stability and defending just causes, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause, while preserving its principles and national interests.

Meanwhile, MP Majhem Al-Saqr said that His Majesty's speech went beyond the limits of traditional diplomatic speech and formed a clear political message that outlines the Jordanian stance towards the rapid and dangerous changes taking place in the region, adding that His Majesty was not content with diagnosing the crises, but put the international community before its political and moral responsibilities.

He stressed that managing conflicts and postponing solutions is no longer a viable policy and that leaving facts to impose themselves on the ground would reshape the region at the expense of security, stability, and the rights of peoples.

Al-Saqr continued that the royal message carried implications that go beyond the Palestinian issue to the future of the region, especially in light of attempts to impose a new reality by force, stressing that Jordan is moving from the position of a state that defends its interests and principles and adheres to diplomacy, but does not accept that the policy of fait accompli becomes a rule governing the region.

He pointed out that the royal speech combined the defense of Palestinian rights and the warning of the consequences of expansion and displacement, placing Jordan's national security at the core of regional calculations, considering that His Majesty's talk about borders, water, and national security carries a clear message that Jordan will not deal with any threat to its interests as a detail in the regional scene.

He stressed that the royal speech presented a coherent Jordanian vision, the basis of which is that peace is a strategic option, diplomacy is an effective tool, but national principles and national security are not subject to bargaining, pointing out that the continued neglect of the roots of the conflict will not lead to stability, but will reproduce crises in a more dangerous form.

He also stressed that the royal speech should be read as a clear political message regarding the future of the region, stating that Jordan does not deal with the region's crises with a reactive logic, but moves to protect its interests and principles and push for political solutions that address the roots of crises, warning that the continued neglect of Palestinian rights and the imposition of facts by force will keep the region in an open circle of tension and instability.

For his part, member of the National Covenant Parliamentary Bloc Awn Al-Za'abi praised the King's speech for its clear and decisive positions on national and regional issues, noting His Majesty's affirmation that any threat to the northern borders of the Kingdom or its water security represents a threat to Jordan's national security.

He said that the royal speech reflected a steady Jordanian position in protecting the security of the Kingdom, its water, and the interests of its people, explaining that His Majesty's positions were firm and clear towards the Palestinian issue, supporting the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), and adhering to the Hashemite custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

Al-Za'abi stressed that the speech reflected Jordan's steadfastness to its principles and its adherence to diplomacy and peace in parallel with protecting its national interests and dealing with regional and international challenges.

For his part, Chairman of the Parliamentary Education and Culture Committee Ibrahim Al-Quraleh explained that His Majesty's affirmation that adherence to diplomacy does not outweigh the commitment to humanitarian values carries a clear message that Jordanian diplomacy is a responsible approach based on wisdom, steadfastness, and the defense of rights and principles.

He added that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, will remain loyal to its principles, open to dialogue, and committed to international law, international legitimacy, and the need to protect the rights and dignity of peoples, stressing that real peace is not achieved by ignoring or postponing crises, but by addressing their roots and the international community bearing its responsibilities.

Al-Quraleh stressed that the royal message confirms that Jordan's principles do not change with changing circumstances or the level of international attention, and that the Kingdom will continue its responsible role in supporting peace and stability and defending just causes, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause, while preserving its principles and national interests.

For its part, the National Covenant Parliamentary Bloc praised the royal speech for carrying a vision of a confident and steadfast state in its principles, capable of protecting its national interests, while adhering at the same time to just peace, international law, and the defense of the rights of the Palestinian people.

The bloc's chairman, MP Ali Al-Khalaila, said that His Majesty the King put the international community before its responsibilities towards the region's crises, foremost of which is the Palestinian issue, affirming that any threat to Jordan's northern borders or its water security represents a threat to national security, and that the Kingdom will protect its security, water, and the interests of its people, embodying the clarity of national priorities and the state's confidence in its ability to preserve its sovereignty and capabilities in the face of challenges.

He pointed out that His Majesty presented an integrated vision for the Jordanian state, which deals with the challenges of the present without stopping the construction of the future, by enhancing the Kingdom's position as a center for trade, industry, technology, and developing its defense capabilities and combating terrorism and drug trafficking, in parallel with its political and humanitarian role in the region.

Al-Khalaila stressed that the royal speech revealed the danger of Israeli policies in Gaza and the West Bank and what settlement operations, land seizures, and displacement represent as a direct threat to the possibility of establishing a viable Palestinian state and achieving just peace.

He added that His Majesty's adherence to supporting Palestinian steadfastness and UNRWA and continuing to carry the Hashemite custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem expresses deep-rooted Jordanian principles, affirming that Jordan will remain under the leadership of His Majesty the King strong in protecting its interests, steadfast in its principles, and present in defending Palestine, peace, and justice.
