Ministry of Labor extends legalization of non-Jordanian workers' status until December 1st

Al-Zyoud to Al-Rai: 500 dinars for all previous periods for those who entered the Kingdom for non-work purposes and subsequently joined the labor market

Ministry of Labor extends legalization of non-Jordanian workers' status until December 1st

The government has extended the period for legalizing and regularizing the status of non-Jordanian workers in violation of regulations for an additional two months, until December 1, 2026, according to the Ministry of Labor's spokesperson, Mohammad Al-Zyoud.

Al-Zyoud told Al-Rai that the extension decision came after evaluating the first period, which ran from June 2026 to the end of September 2026, during which it was determined that there was a need for a two-month extension, in addition to adding a new clause to the decision.

He explained that the new clause concerns individuals who have not been issued any work permit since entering the Kingdom and did not enter Jordan for the purpose of work, but rather for tourism, medical treatment, or education, and subsequently joined the labor market.

He indicated that this category has been granted an opportunity to regularize their status during the two months by paying 500 dinars for all previous periods and years they spent in the Kingdom, provided that a new work permit is issued for them.

Al-Zyoud emphasized that for a non-Jordanian worker who entered the Kingdom for non-work purposes, regardless of the number of years they have been in the Kingdom, no retroactive effect will be calculated. Instead, a sum of 500 dinars will be collected for all previous years spent in the Kingdom, and a new work permit will be issued.

He noted that the decision also includes the issue of transferring between different sectors.

He stated that these decisions contribute to organizing the labor market, transitioning non-Jordanian labor from the informal to the formal labor market, increasing the Ministry of Labor's database, and providing labor for various sectors from workers already present in the Kingdom.

He explained that a non-Jordanian worker in violation who wishes to leave the Kingdom can obtain a travel ticket and depart, noting that domestic workers are included in these decisions.

Al-Zyoud affirmed that the decision comes to enhance the organization of the labor market and allow non-Jordanian workers in violation to regularize their status in accordance with the provisions of the Labor Law, the Residence and Foreigners' Affairs Law, and the regulations and instructions issued thereunder.

154,000 workers benefited from the previous period

Al-Zyoud said that the number of non-Jordanian workers who benefited from the legalization and status regularization period from June to the end of September 2026 reached 154,000 workers.

He added that more than 7,000 non-Jordanian workers left the Kingdom permanently during the same period, noting that these workers benefited from the decision to legalize and regularize the status of non-Jordanian workers issued by the Council of Ministers.
