Extension of Legalization and Regularization of Expatriate Workers Until December 1, 2026

The Council of Ministers, in its meeting held on Tuesday, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, decided to extend its decision related to the legalization and regularization of expatriate workers, issued on June 8, 2026, to all workers in various sectors and economic activities, including domestic workers, until December 1, 2026.

The decision includes a set of incentives and exemptions related to the legalization and regularization of expatriate workers, and comes as a continuation of the implementation of the plan aimed at controlling and organizing the Jordanian labor market, and for the purpose of regulating the affairs of these non-Jordanian workers and ensuring their presence in the Kingdom in a legal manner through obtaining work permits legally in the professions they work in.

Accordingly, the decision will be extended to all workers present on the territory of the Kingdom from various nationalities, who entered with the intention of working, and who have obtained previous work permits.

Those who entered the Kingdom without the intention of working are exempted from the Council of Ministers' decision, and they will be granted a work permit for a new year from the date of application, and they will pay the full work permit fee, and a fee of (500) dinars for all previous periods.

The decision also includes the control and deportation of any worker who has not regularized their status after January 1, 2027.

The Council of Ministers' decision in this regard applies to all workers in various sectors and economic activities, including domestic workers, until December 1, 2026, and it is also applied to workers in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone, where they are exempted from 100% of the delay fines for renewing expired work permits or transferring to another employer in various sectors or economic activities.
