Minister of Justice emphasizes the need to develop the justice system and consolidate the rule of law

Minister of Justice Bassam Talhouni emphasized the importance of developing justice systems, strengthening the rule of law, consolidating international justice principles, and protecting human rights, while reviewing Jordan's experience in modernizing the justice system, developing litigation procedures, and expanding digital transformation in judicial services.

This came during Talhouni's participation in the International Justice Summit, held in Istanbul on October 8-9, with the participation of judicial and legal delegations from more than 70 countries, and in the presence of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who delivered a speech to the participating delegations on the second day of the summit.

The summit discussed a number of contemporary legal and judicial issues, most notably the violations in the Gaza Strip, human rights, international arbitration, artificial intelligence and cybercrimes, the application of international humanitarian law, the role of international judiciary, and responsibility in the digital space, in addition to issues of energy, migration, and human dignity.

On the sidelines of the summit, Talhouni held a series of meetings with ministers of justice, officials, and heads of participating delegations to discuss ways to enhance judicial and legal cooperation and exchange expertise and experiences, in a way that contributes to developing the justice system and strengthening partnerships between countries.
