Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Holy Sites, Dr. Mohammad Al-Khalayleh, affirmed that the role of mosques is not limited to performing prayers, but extends to building the human being, consolidating Islamic values based on moderation and tolerance, and promoting harmony, compassion, belonging to the homeland, and maintaining its security and stability.
This came during his inauguration today, Wednesday, of the "Huda Batti Dumithan Al-Shamsi" Mosque in the town of Sama in the Taybeh District, and the "Hajja Turkiyya Nayef" Mosque in the Kufr Yuba area in the Western Irbid District, in the presence of the administrators of the Taybeh District, Kamal Al-Qudumi, and Western Irbid, Khaled Al-Kasasbeh.
Al-Khalayleh said that Jordan will remain a model of brotherhood between Muslims and Christians, stressing that the nation's sons are partners in protecting its security and stability, and that the recent events witnessed by the Kingdom confirm the importance of adhering to national unity, rallying around state institutions, and not allowing extremist ideas to undermine the Jordanian social fabric.
He stressed that extremist groups do not represent the truth of Islam, which is based on preserving life and upholding human dignity, citing the Almighty's saying: "Whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely," and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "A Muslim is one from whose tongue and hand the people are safe," pointing out that security and stability are a blessing that must be preserved, and are the fruit of the sacrifices of the Armed Forces and security services and the wisdom of the Hashemite leadership led by His Majesty King Abdullah II.
He pointed out that the maintenance of mosques is not limited to physical construction, but also includes their spiritual maintenance through worship, recitation of the Holy Quran, and teaching religious matters, so that the houses of God may be beacons of knowledge, guidance, and morals, and places that bring hearts together and unite ranks.
Al-Khalayleh valued the donation of the benefactors for building the two mosques, stressing the importance of the role of mosques in building a conscious generation that adheres to its religion and values, translates the morals of Islam into its daily behavior, and contributes to protecting the homeland and strengthening its stability.
In turn, the Director of Irbid First Awqaf, Dr. Raed Jarwan, said that the opening of mosques is not limited to constructing buildings, but represents the revival of the message of faith and the consolidation of the values of brotherhood, solidarity, and tolerance, stressing their role in building the human being, spreading religious awareness, and teaching the Holy Quran and Sharia sciences.
For his part, MP Moayad Al-Alawneh called for enhancing awareness among children and intensifying guidance and counseling efforts to protect them from extremist ideas, valuing the efforts of the benefactors and everyone who contributed to building the two mosques, and the importance of concerted efforts to maintain Jordan's security and stability.
