Lebanese Army: Israeli claims regarding our missions south of the Litani are false

On Tuesday, the Lebanese Army described Israeli claims regarding its performance of duties south of the Litani River as "false," affirming that its procedures are documented with the committee overseeing the cessation of hostilities, and that disinformation campaigns aim to target its credibility amidst ongoing negotiations.

This came in a statement issued by the army command in response to Israeli accusations regarding its handling of a military facility in the town of Kafra within the Bint Jbeil district in the country's south.

The army stated that Israel published "false claims on the US-based 'X' platform regarding the Lebanese Army's work in the area south of the Litani, questioning its ability to carry out the tasks entrusted to it."

It explained that its units began dealing with the facility in December 2025 and continued their mission until March 16, 2026, when they halted work and evacuated the area at the committee's request following Israeli threats to bomb it.

It added that it informed the committee that the mission was not completed and that military equipment and ammunition remained inside the facility, which was subsequently subjected to Israeli bombardment.

Regarding a video published by the Israeli army showing a targeted truck, the Lebanese Army clarified that it dates back to July 3, 2026, in the Siddikine area of the Tyre district, about a week after the signing of the framework agreement.

It stressed that the facts and procedures are documented with the committee, which "refutes Israeli claims," considering that the disinformation campaigns target its credibility locally and internationally amid ongoing negotiations.

It reiterated its commitment to carrying out its tasks and obligations, pointing to the continuation of Israeli attacks and breaches of existing understandings.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Israeli army accused its Lebanese counterpart of failing to curb Hezbollah's activity, holding it responsible for fully executing its missions in southern Lebanon.

Its spokesperson, Ella Waweya, claimed via the US-based "X" platform that the Lebanese Army announced it was taking necessary measures regarding a facility in Kafra after being asked to handle it through the committee in December 2025.

She alleged that the party continued its activity inside the facility, transferring weapons and equipment from it to maintain its military capabilities.

She attached her post with a video clip claiming to show party members carrying weapons stored inside the facility onto a truck to transport them and keep them within its arsenal.

On November 27, 2024, Beirut and Tel Aviv reached a ceasefire agreement between the Israeli army and Hezbollah, which included the establishment of an international military committee chaired by the United States to ensure the cessation of hostilities and extend the authority of the Lebanese Army in the south.

Israeli aggression against Lebanon renewed on March 2, 2026, following the party's launch of missiles toward Israel in response to the assassination of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Last June 26, Beirut and Tel Aviv signed a "framework formula" under US auspices, providing for a gradual Israeli withdrawal, the deployment of the Lebanese Army, and the disarmament of the party.

Despite the agreement, Israel continues its attacks in southern Lebanon and occupies Lebanese areas, some for decades and others seized during recent wars and military operations.
