Launch of the First Amman Cultural Forum on "Identity and Cultural Transformations" .. Today

The proceedings of the First Amman Cultural Forum, organized by the Greater Amman Municipality under the title "Identity and Cultural Transformations", kick off today, Wednesday, on the occasion of three decades since the institutionalization of cultural work in the Municipality, with the participation of an elite group of intellectuals, researchers, academics, and specialists in cultural affairs.

The two-day forum discusses the trajectory of cultural work in the Greater Amman Municipality and its development, the cultural identity of the city, and the role of cultural infrastructure, alongside evaluating the experience, its successes, challenges, and prospects for development, contributing to foreseeing the future of cultural work in the capital.

The forum aims to provide a space for dialogue and the exchange of ideas and experiences among participants, and to discuss ways to enhance the presence of culture in community life and develop cultural work in a manner that suits the transformations witnessed by the city and society.

The program includes five sessions and an open dialogue distributed over two days. The first day is dedicated to the theme of "Establishment and Institutional Transformation", while the second day addresses the theme of "The City, Society, and Cultural Space".

The sessions of the first day examine the roots of cultural work in the Greater Amman Municipality and the stages of its establishment and development, alongside the beginnings of cultural work through programs, publications, and partnerships, while the open dialogue "Contributions and Highlights on the Cultural Situation of the Capital Amman" addresses a number of experiences and visions related to the cultural scene in the city.

The forum's proceedings continue tomorrow, Thursday, under the theme "The City, Society, and Cultural Space", through sessions discussing the topics of "The City and Cultural Identity", "When the City Speaks: Cultural Infrastructure as Urban Language", and "Evaluation: Experience, Successes, and Challenges", with the participation of a number of intellectuals, academics, writers, artists, and specialists.

The forum concludes its proceedings by announcing recommendations and a closing statement containing the most prominent ideas and proposals regarding the reality of cultural work in the capital and the prospects for its development.
