Labor: 24,000 Expatriate Workers Have Corrected Their Status.. No Extension for Exemptions

The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Labor, Dr. Abdul Halim Dogan, said that an expatriate worker who is deported and leaves the Kingdom permanently will not have the right to return to Jordan for 5 years unless he pays the resulting fines.

Dogan explained in a radio statement that 24,000 workers benefited from the decision to correct the status of expatriate workers retroactively, where their status was corrected, while about 2,700 workers will be deported and leave the Kingdom permanently.

He added that the process of correcting the status comes within the efforts to correct and regulate the labor market in Jordan, by setting plans to gradually replace expatriate workers with Jordanian workers.

He pointed out that after September 30, the worker will be deported, his visa will be canceled, and he will incur fines of up to 5,000 dinars instead of deportation fines.

Dogan confirmed that there will be no extension of the period for correcting the status, nor an increase in exemptions after the specified period ends.
