His Majesty King Abdullah II said that global political inaction towards what is happening in Palestinian territories is not due to a lack of available options, affirming that the international community has the necessary tools to take action.
In a speech before the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, His Majesty said: "Global political inaction is not due to a lack of options, let's call things by their names: this inaction is a choice".
The King pointed out that the international community has tools including sanctions, asset freezes, embargoes, and diplomatic isolation, noting that there is a record of using these tools in other issues.
His Majesty added: "But when it comes to Israel, decisions remain where they started: on paper", considering the result to be a "state without deterrence".
The King said that the Israeli government's sense of impunity has reached "terrifying stages", warning against the belief that its ambitions will stop at Palestine.
His Majesty affirmed that peoples around the world are giving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict their full attention, asking before the General Assembly: "The question now remains: will we act?"
