"Jordan River" and "King Hussein Foundation" promote breast cancer awareness in Aqaba

The Jordan Breast Cancer Program, affiliated with the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, in cooperation with the Jordan River Foundation, organized an awareness lecture at the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Center for Community Empowerment in Aqaba, targeting 60 local women and center employees, with the aim of promoting awareness of the importance of early detection of breast cancer and periodic examinations.

The Director of the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Center for Community Empowerment in Aqaba, affiliated with the Jordan River Foundation, Ahmed Al-Ghunaimat, emphasized that the center is keen to support national efforts aimed at spreading breast cancer awareness, in cooperation with the Jordan Breast Cancer Program, contributing to delivering awareness messages to women and enhancing their knowledge of prevention and early detection methods.

Al-Ghunaimat told Alrai that breast cancer awareness is a shared societal responsibility that begins with spreading knowledge, encouraging women to undergo periodic examinations, and promoting a culture of early detection, due to its important role in increasing the chances of treatment and recovery, stressing that awareness is the first step towards prevention, and that supporting women and encouraging them to take care of their health is the responsibility of the family, institutions, and society as a whole.

For her part, the Director of Communication and Community Marketing, Bana Al-Dabbas, emphasized the importance of the initiatives implemented by the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, in partnership with community institutions, in reaching women and enhancing their participation in awareness programs and meetings that meet their health and social needs.

She pointed out that the impact of these initiatives is not limited to organizing events and providing information, but extends to creating a positive change in women's lives, by enhancing their awareness and encouraging them to benefit from available programs, and transforming acquired knowledge into practical practices that reflect on their health and daily lives.

She added that the continuation of awareness lectures and expanding the scope of access to women contribute to building a more aware society, and enhance women's ability to make decisions related to their health and their families, in line with the goals of community programs aimed at empowering women and enhancing their active participation.

In turn, the trainer and educator at the Jordan Breast Cancer Program, Kifah Al-Muhaisen, stressed the importance of self-examinations, clinical examinations, and mammograms, emphasizing the necessity for women to take care of their health and adhere to appropriate examinations according to their age and medical recommendations.

She explained that a woman's knowledge of the changes that may occur in the breast, and consulting specialists when noticing any unusual change, in addition to adhering to periodic examinations, enhances the chances of detecting the disease in its early stages, pointing to the importance of raising the level of awareness and correcting misconceptions that may cause some women to hesitate to undergo examinations.

Al-Muhaisen emphasized that a woman's interest in her health is not secondary to her daily responsibilities, but a necessity that enables her to continue her role in caring for her family and home, pointing out that self-care forms the basis for caring for others, and calling on women not to neglect or postpone periodic examinations, and to take the initiative to seek medical advice when needed.

The lecture comes within the framework of national efforts aimed at consolidating the culture of early detection of breast cancer, and strengthening the partnership between national and community institutions to reach women and provide them with the necessary information to protect their health, contributing to transforming awareness into sustainable preventive behavior that reflects positively on women, their families, and the local community.
