Jerusalem churches condemn Karak attack and call for bells to be rung

Patriarchs and heads of churches in Jerusalem condemned, in a joint statement, the terrorist attack that targeted the Greek Orthodox Church in the town of Hamoud in Karak Governorate during a funeral ceremony, affirming that targeting worshippers inside houses of worship constitutes a grave assault on religious and human values, and the Jordanian national fabric based on unity and brotherhood between Muslims and Christians.

They expressed their heartfelt condolences to the victims' families, affirming their solidarity with Patriarch Theophilos III and all members of the Patriarchate, and also praised the stance of His Majesty King Abdullah II and the Jordanian people in rejecting this terrorist act.

The statement called on all churches in the region to ring their bells at twelve o'clock noon today, Saturday, October 24, as an expression of solidarity and prayer for the victims and the injured.
