The 38th edition of the European Film Festival will feature a screening of the feature-length documentary “Is Anyone There?” translated into sign language, an initiative that allows the deaf audience to follow the cinematic screening and promotes the accessibility of arts and culture to various segments of society.
The event will take place on Wednesday, September 23, at 8:00 PM, at the Royal Film Commission of Jordan headquarters, as part of the festival program organized by the European Union in Jordan.
The initiative is supported by the Jordan Group for Arts and Disability, in cooperation with the Cinema Club for the Deaf, and with support from the British Council in Jordan through the provision of sign language interpretation during the film screening.
The film, produced in 2023, is a feature-length documentary with a duration of approximately 90 minutes and is intended for viewers aged 16 and over.
This step falls within the efforts aimed at enhancing access to cultural and artistic events and enabling the participation of people with disabilities in film screenings, thereby expanding the circle of audiences benefiting from cultural events.
