"Instagram" launches a new feature to recreate trending Reels without the need to memorize moves

"Instagram" has launched a new tool that allows users to recreate trending Reels more easily by displaying the original video on the screen while recording a new version, eliminating the need to memorize moves or re-watch the clip multiple times before imitating it.

The new feature targets content creators who want to recreate viral dances, lip-sync to songs, or imitate popular clips while maintaining the correct timing of movements and transitions.

The tool relies on integrating the reference video into the camera interface, so it remains visible while the user records their own version, which helps in matching movements with the original clip more accurately, according to a report published by "digitaltrends".

To use the feature, the user first needs to find the Reels clip they wish to recreate, provided its duration does not exceed 90 seconds. "Instagram" did not clarify the reason for imposing this time limit, or whether it will increase it in the future.

After that, one must tap the three-dot menu on the clip, then select "Use as reference".

Once this option is selected, the camera interface opens and the original video appears in a small window on the screen, next to the user, so they can follow it while preparing to record.

The tool allows replaying the reference clip multiple times before starting to film, and the window can be moved to any position on the screen to avoid blocking an important part of the scene.

The user can also pause the video whenever they need to practice a specific move or review a specific transition between scenes, giving them greater flexibility in adjusting the details of the new version.

When ready to record, the feature provides an option to customize the countdown before filming begins, helping the user synchronize their movements with the original video from the very first moment and achieve better timing alignment.

"Instagram" announced that the new feature is available starting today, but it is currently limited to iPhones running the iOS system.

The company confirmed that support for the Android system will arrive later, meaning that users of phones running the "Google" system will have to wait before benefiting from the new tool.

The feature gives content creators a more convenient way to reproduce trending clips by combining the reference video and recording tools into one interface, instead of repeatedly switching between clips or relying on memory to match movements and timing.
